A matched engineer joins your standups, repository and tracker and works your backlog: developers, senior engineers and tech leads, plus AI automation, applied AI and forward-deployed specialists. You meet the engineer first, try them free for a week on a real task, then pay monthly.

- Tech lead (architecture, integrations and code review; can be the lead if you have none in-house): $3,600/month

- Applied AI Engineer (LLM features, search over your own data (RAG), evaluations and guardrails): $2,900/month
- Forward Deployed Engineer (discovery, the build and the rollout, working directly with whoever owns the product): $3,600/month
- Octacer handles matching, availability, leave and cover, regular performance check-ins, an escalation contact, and a replacement (introduced first) if the match is not right

## Price

- From $1,900/month (mid-level developer, full-time); role rates are listed above
- Full-time is 40 hours a week; half-time is 20 hours at 55% of the rate
- First week free: 5 working days, one engineer, one trial per company
- No recruiting fees, no long contracts

## Payment terms

- Billed monthly, first month in advance
- Stop any time with 14 days' notice; prepaid days after the final working day are refunded
- Paid work starts only when you approve it in writing after the trial week

## How it starts

1. Backlog call (30 min): your backlog, stack and hours; we check there is ongoing work, the rate fits, and someone can review the engineer
2. Meet your engineer: skills, hours and responsibilities confirmed in writing
3. Free trial week (5 working days): a real task in your repository under NDA, with access and a reviewer ready on day one
4. Review on day five (technical quality, communication, working fit), then monthly if you approve in writing

## Ownership and access

- You keep the trial-week work either way
- You own priorities, product decisions and acceptance of work; code review and technical direction sit with your tech lead by default
- NDA available; work happens in your accounts; only necessary access is requested and you can revoke it at any time

## FAQ

### What exactly is free in the trial week?

Five working days of one engineer, at the hours agreed, on a real task from your backlog. The task is sized for a week and how it will be judged is agreed upfront. There is one trial per company, the work happens in your repository under NDA, and you keep what was built whether or not you continue.

### What happens after the trial?

On day five we review technical quality, communication and working fit together. If you continue, you approve it in writing and pay the monthly rate for that role, first month in advance. If you do not, there is nothing to pay.

### How does notice work?

It is month to month. Notice is 14 days and runs from the day you give it; your engineer works through it, and any prepaid days after the final working day are refunded.

### How quickly can someone start?

Within three business days of agreeing a matched engineer, as long as access is ready. If no suitable engineer is free, we say so on the call.

### Where is the team based?

Our engineers work from our delivery team in Lahore, Pakistan, and join your tools remotely: your Slack or Teams, your repository, your tracker. Hours are set to overlap your day (US, UK or Gulf) and agreed in writing.
